Rory started his career in Tourism 10 years ago and has been bitten by the bug ever since. A passionate and positive South African, Rory sees inbound tourism as the perfect platform to promote and sell South Africa, with the firm knowledge that international tourism is a strong contributor to the growth and development of the country he loves.

Rory started at Welcome in 2004, working as a junior consultant in the Domestic Wholesale department, and worked his way through the operations department and learning the skills of the tourism trade. He has held positions in the Groups and Business Development departments, but always knew that International Sales would be the department he calls home and where he can best bring the beat of Africa to the world. In 2007 Rory began his International Sales career in Welcome, taking on the Russian and Eastern European markets and has grown his market portfolio to now include the Netherlands as well as the North American Markets.

A motivated and driven team player, Rory is fiercely loyal and passionate towards his clients, nothing is too big or too small, and firmly believes that good customer service will create a reciprocal loyalty. Rory is married to our very own Megan Phelan, Team Manager of the Dertour department, and is the proud father to Mila Eleni Phelan - the apple of his eye.
